About Lisa Maire

Cat Fantasy Art by Lisa Marie

Art and animals have been a passion of mine since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I can remember times when I was knee high to a grasshopper, sitting for hours drawing animal after animal, trying to replicate the photographs from my mountain of nature books.

My sketch pad and my pencil were my best friends... and they have remained that way to this day.

Style & Medium

Over the years I have developed 2 styles of work which are pretty much based on what I call my ‘Jekyl & Hyde’ personality. One style leans towards realism and reflects my ‘serious’ side. The other style is a whimsical folk art style which I use as a way to express my humour and wit… Something which my friends and family find incredibly hard to believe actually exists behind my ‘serious’ exterior.

Although I have stacks of different art materials cluttering up my shelves, I prefer to use acrylic, watercolour or gouache. It depends on the style, subject and surface I’m painting on. Overall, I’m an acrylic on watercolour paper kinda gal!

Although I do occassionaly paint on a large scale, I am better known for my miniature art. As an ACEO and Small Format artist I have work in private galleries across the globe.

Stuff You Really Don't Need To Know About Lisa Maire

I’m addicted to Guitar Hero 3, crabs legs, prawns, curry, jacket potato with lashings of butter, Spongebob Squarepants, taking photos and the cbbc channel.

Spiders freak me out... as does anything else with more than 4 legs.

If I ruled the world I’d make every day Halloween.

When I’m not holding a paintbrush you’ll usually find me holding a camera! If it doesn’t move fast enough... it gets snapped!
